This is one of several photographs to come out of a collaboration between author Jojo, photographer Joachim Theis, and model/actor Juliano Wakahisa to raise awareness for TELL Japan, a nonprofit organization that addresses the mental health needs of those living in Japan.

I stepped off the wind and into this world on the edge of a winter storm
And if I had but known what it had to offer me, perhaps I would not have come
The cold that bites, the shackles hanging heavy on my soul
Each hope I find only to be broken, cold grey stone
If I had but known...
And yet, in that despair have I also found my home
Not that which can be offered by another, but one that rests within my very soul
I've found my truest self sitting in that cold, realized a warmth within, a warmth all my own And finding that flame, now I see my gift
Oh, how it yearns to grow, to spread, uplift
To bring that glowing light to this world bereft
Can you bear it?

American Johanna Collier (or Jojo, as her friends call her) is a model, performer, and writer is based in Tokyo, Japan. Her passion for creative storytelling shines forth in her writing and physical pursuits, which include dance, stunts, circus, and martial arts. She loves to collaborate with other artists, as in the White Enso submission, and is always on a mission to share her creativity and co-creativity with new people and in new ways.
