Hidden Doors
by
Trane DeVore

A photo journey exploring the quiet, deep sense of yugen (幽玄)— the dark, silent, mysterious— that can be found in the Nagano area.
Trane DeVore is originally from California where he studied literature at Sonoma State University and UC Berkeley. He moved to Japan in 2005 and currently teaches at the University of Nagano. He has published two books of poetry – series/mnemonic and Dust Habit (with Avec Books) – and his writing has appeared in numerous publications. He has a longtime photographic habit that he can’t seem to kick and can often be seen wandering around with one camera or the other hanging by his side. When he’s not thinking about H.D., Thoreau, or vintage vacuum tubes, he spends his time collecting records.
