He emerges from the florist holding out a red chrysanthemum.
“I want to take you to Japan,” he says. She takes his hand. He tells her of Tori, sunrise tinted gateways, wombs of all creation. He tells her of rocks, strategically placed, of raked sand sifted into circles. He tells her of Yugen, a term that touches on mysterious beauty. The timbre of his voice transports her.
